Childcare near Point Cook and Williams Landing: what local families should know
Point Cook and Williams Landing are home to a lot of young families, and choosing childcare is one of the bigger early decisions. If you live here, the right centre is not always the one closest to your front door. Here is what to weigh up, and where Kids Kingdom Hoppers Crossing fits.

Key takeaways
Think about your whole week, including commute, parking and opening hours, not just the distance from home.
An all-inclusive daily fee makes it much easier to see what care will really cost.
Funded kinder inside the long day care day can save a second drop-off as your child gets older.
Where we are
A short drive from Point Cook and Williams Landing
Our Hoppers Crossing centre is at 310 Derrimut Rd, Hoppers Crossing, a short drive west of both suburbs. From Williams Landing the trip is usually around 10 to 15 minutes, and from Point Cook it is around 10 to 20 minutes depending on which part of the suburb you start from. Traffic makes a real difference at peak times, so treat these as rough guides.
The centre has on-site parking, which makes the morning drop-off quicker when you have a baby capsule, a nappy bag and a toddler who wants to walk in by themselves.

Weighing it up
What to think about beyond distance
If you commute along the Princes Freeway or catch the train from Williams Landing station, the most practical centre is often the one that fits around that routine. Before you shortlist, it helps to map out a normal week.
Questions worth answering first
- What time do you need to drop off and pick up on your longest workday?
- Is the centre on your way to work, or in the opposite direction?
- How easy is parking at 7:30am on a weekday?
- Will your child need funded kinder in the next year or two, and where would that happen?
- What is included in the daily fee, and what would you need to pack each day?

Long days
Hours that suit working families
Kids Kingdom Hoppers Crossing is open Monday to Friday from 6:30am to 6:30pm. That gives you room for an early start or a late finish without watching the clock on the drive back. We close on public holidays and are open every other weekday of the year.
What is included
One all-inclusive daily fee
Long day care at Hoppers Crossing is $150 a day before the Child Care Subsidy, and the fee is all-inclusive. Five freshly prepared meals are cooked on site each day, and nappies, wipes and sunscreen are provided. Monthly excursions on our own centre bus and in-centre incursions are included too, so there are no extra charges for those.
The Child Care Subsidy then reduces what you pay, depending on your family income. Our CCS calculator gives you an estimate, and our childcare fees page has the full breakdown.

Settling in
Helping your child feel at home
Starting care is a big step, especially when the centre is a short drive from home rather than around the corner. We offer orientation visits before the first full day so your child can meet their educators and get comfortable in the room. Consistent educators and familiar routines help children settle, and daily Storypark updates let you see how the day is going while you are at work. Our settling in guide has more ideas for the first few weeks.
Learning
Funded kinder and Montessori preschool in one place
We run Victorian Government funded 3 and 4-year-old kindergarten inside the regular day, led by a qualified kindergarten teacher, with 7.5-hour program days. At Hoppers Crossing, 3-year-old kinder runs on Tuesday and Thursday, and 4-year-old families can choose Monday and Friday or Tuesday and Thursday. Your child stays in the centre they already know, with no second drop-off. Read more on our kindergarten page.
Hoppers Crossing also runs a Montessori preschool program, with child-led, hands-on learning in a calm, prepared room, delivered within the Early Years Learning Framework.
See it for yourself
The best test is a real visit at the time you would usually drop off. Book a tour at Hoppers Crossing and see how the drive, the parking and the rooms feel for your family.
