Wavesfactory Plugin Bundle
The Trackspacer plugin features a 32 band EQ that reacts to the incoming sidechain signal. It analyses the spectrum of the sidechain and applies a reversed EQ curve to another track. As if by magic, Trackspacer creates space for the primary track by cutting the exact frequencies on other tracks.
When it comes to mixing or producing, we cannot unsee the huge trend of bringing ghosts from the past in order to bring more dusty mojo to our clean and cold digital tracks. Gear from the past decades see their prices skyrocketing whereas plugins developers try to emulate those ancient studio totems by giving either a pale photoshopped image of them or a derived and inspired copy. Because those mysterious objects are harder to understand than they thought.
But one plugin maker had decided to keep his head out of the mass and to make his own, frankenstein-ised, unique spectre. And there was born SPECTRE, in a small Waves Factory in the further land of Mallorca.
That does mean that it is able to generate saturation/harmonics excitement without ANY digital artifacts. If it does not have any digital artifacts, could we then say it sounds analog? If yes, it could be one of the first time I experience this in the digital world. I have never been really happy about spending money on digital, non-palpable gear. But Spectre is the only plugin where I felt really happy to have done it (no I am not in the honeymoon period with it). Let me give you a few basic uses of Spectre now.
To conclude, I definitely recommend you to try Spectre. It is not one of those numerous digital processors that are doing more harm than good to your tracks. I rarely get enthusiastic about straight digital tools except when they are purely utilitarian (the only plugin that made me feel this way too is Aroma by Ploytec).
Echo Cat is the spitting image of a later Copicat model, the 1970s Copicat Mk4, and has a matching satin nickel look. In the center of the plugin is the star of the show, the short reel of tape that passes five tape heads to make the magic happen. At the top is a preset loader and some buttons that did not appear on the original Copicat for modifying Heads, Tape, Motor, and Master output settings. Pushing any of those buttons loads a separate panel full of controls for each. Below the tape reel are four knobs and three buttons, plus a VU meter to show the input and output gains. The buttons control which of the three playback tape heads are enabled, and the knobs control plugin Input and Output levels, Mix, and Sustain. The vintage look is very cool and everything is in a logical place with no important controls tucked away, making for a 5-star appearance to start our review.
Spectre for me is a precision tool first and foremost. I have many good saturation plugins. Even though Spectre can handle many types of things if needed, I mainly use it for precisely reinforcing specific frequency areas. Like an EQ boost on steroids. For adding colour or glue to the entire mix I prefer other tools.
The manual is clear and concise. It even provides some extra info that goes a little bit deeper into how to use the plugin and why certain design decisions were made, rather than just explaining what each function does. I always love when the devs put some effort to include some further insight in the manual. They are the ones who know best! Great job.
Cassette is an audio plugin that imparts the unique character and sonic imprint of an often maligned recording medium, one that offers a sound like nothing else. This is not a tape machine, this is a time machine.
Cassette is an audio plugin that emulates the sound of vintage cassette tapes and decks. It has been carefully modelled after exhaustive analysis of a high number of sound signals recorded into real tapes. As a result, you get the same sound and behaviour of the original units.
Soundtoys is a table stake for many producer, with tasty analog emulations that add that extra dirt, spark and character to productions. Wavesfactory have some top specialised plugins which found their niche and shine through. Cassette, Trackspacer, Spectre and Quantam all bring their own flavour to the table, and are well worth checking out. Even better, Wavesfactory have increased their discounts from last year for Black Friday 2022 from 40% to 50% across the range. So now you can pick up many Wavesfactory plugins from $29.
Black Friday doesn't necessarily mean you have to spend your hard earned cash. Some brands are generous and offer a free plugin. We predict Waves, Plugin Alliance, and Baby Audio to release new free VST plugins, like in the last few years. The good news is that many free plugins from previous Black Friday are still available.
So far, this is the free Black Friday plugin for 2022. Soundtoys are giving away the mic preamp Little Radiator for free during from November 2022 to 2 January 2023. This is an excellent little plugin that warms up and saturates audio signals, and works nicely on bass guitar, drums, or even buses. Little Radiator is normally sold for $79, and getting this quality for free is generous from Soundtoys. Thank you.
For the last few years, Waves Audio has released one plugin for free during Black Friday weekend. In 2021, the Waves free plugin was Lofi Space, a new delay plugin. This plugin now sells for the usual $29.99.
So for Black Friday 2022, Waves Audio released another new plugin, called Lil Tube, a tube saturator plugin. Lil Tube is the first in the new MAGMA series of Waves plugins which specialise in analog emulations. We are intrigued to test how they stand up against the flag bearer of analog emulations Soundtoys - which are on sale this Black Friday with up to 80% off. And don't forget Soundtoys Little Radiator is available for free until 2 January.
Waves Lil Tube will only be available for free from its release on Black Friday to Cyber Monday 2022. Just register your email*, and you will receive the free Lil Tube Waves plugin via email within a few hours.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday are when most VST plugin and DAW software developers offer their lowest prices of the year. Some brands, such as Ableton, are on sale for only 5 days. Many others, however, start in early November, or continue to offer deals well into December, into the Holiday or Christmas season.
We analysed the best plugin and DAW deals offered by the most popular brands from Black Friday 2019 to 2021. That information helped us predict what brands are likely to offer Black Friday deals, at what discount, at for how long.
Unfortunately, we cannot gaze into the future. However, we are in contact with many companies who share upcoming promotions with us. In addition, we conducted in-depth research into what deals were offered during Black Friday 2019 to 2021, and then predict which plugin or DAW developers might offer during Black Friday 2022. In 2021, we got most of our predictions right, and just a few wrong. In any case, we update our predictions with any confirmed or live deals as soon as possible.

I have been there and done that. Yes, I spent more than in hindsight I wanted. And I bought plugins that I ended up not using. But I also saved massively. I now want to pass on the learnings from my costly mistakes to you, the musicmanta community. That's why I wrote a 5 step guide to help you prepare, plan, and purchase plugins at plunged prices (phew!).
Arturia has been prolific in recent years. Not only did they continue to update its V Collection range of analog emulations, they also launched a new massive synth plugin with Pigments, and expanded into effect plugins with FX Collection. Arturia also expanded into a vast range of hardware, from controllers to analog synths and drum machines.
Baby Audio has quietly but firmly edged itself into the spotlight with its unique take on classic effect plugins. True to form, Baby Audio IHNY-2 was released a few months ago, an updated version of their parallel compression (also called New York compression) plugin. We rated the plugin 4 out of 5 stars. Let's not forget last year's Baby Audio plugin release of TAIP, a fresh take on tape saturation and distortion, derived with the help of an AI algorithm. We liked this plugin a lot, which inspired us to include a few delicious demos in our article.
